I got this tattoo on July 19, 2011. It’s still this bright and wonderful- the picture was taken about three weeks ago.
I was tattooed at To The Point Tattoo in Kailua-Kona, HI by Ansin Park, who’s amazing and talked pretty much the whole way through it just because it was my first. He’s incredibly nice, and talented! I can’t believe how clean his lines are and how it pops off of my shoulder.
Reasoning:
Yes, like everyone else who has a lotus: it rises from the muck and is one of the most beautiful flowers on Earth. But the philosophical meaning? The lotus flower represents rebirth and forgetting; the Lotus Eaters on the Island of Calypso ate them and fed them to travelers coming through in order to make them forget about their lives.
With all the things that have happened in the very short time I’ve lived… it’s nice to reinvent and forget. :) This tattoo represents me moving on from all the bad stuff, and onto greater things.
DEFINITELY addicted now.
